An opportunity to gather together and discuss Taika Waititi’s 2016 heart-warming film ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ and reflect on some themes relating to the experience of children in Out of Home Care.
Time is 7pm on Thursday, 10 September via Zoom
Yvette Willoughby is a Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist who has worked in the role of Therapeutic Specialist (consultant) in the Circle program in Melbourne’s South and Eastern regions over the past 8 years.
She will discuss how psychoanalytic theories and concepts inform this work and strengthen the sustainability of foster-care families. In therapeutic foster care, a child psychotherapist is positioned to enhance the capacity of a foster carer to tolerate some potentially overwhelming feelings of shame, rage, self-hatred and to resist the powerful pull towards the re-enactment of the child’s earlier experience of abandonment.
